Big Hesitation

Recommended Posts

I have read a lot of posts on "slight" hesitation but have not seen too much on what I think is pretty major. On deep water starts my 2003 335 Monsoon with 102 hours stalls enough to drop the skier and rip the rope out of their hands on the reacceleration surge. It runs fine after the hard acceleration or if taking off slowly. This did not happen at all last year. I have treated the gas (for moisture and injecters)and run it through the engine. New gas is in the engine with no effect. From other posts I will put on a new fuel filter and disty cap and rotor. Does this system have two fuel pumps; tank and engine? I just GOT to ski!

It sounds like the fuel filter. On my 2002 Monsoon I seem to remember only one in-line fuel filter. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago the boat would pull the kids fine but as soon as I tried to ski behind it I had the same problem you are indicating and the fuel filter fixed it.

I thought from the amount of hesitation that there was a BIG problem. Changed the filter and put on a new cap and rotor. Problem is gone and it runs better than it ever has. Thank you!!

I have two fuel filters in my 01 Response with Throttle Body Injection (Monsoon II)....one is low pressure line from fuel tank located at the stern just above the fuel tank, behind the rear ski locker panel...the other one is in-line with the fuel pump (high-pressure). I change both fuel filters every three years with the distributer cap. Just a recommendation...I had hesitation as you noted and when I changed all three as mentioned...runs like a champ with great accelleration.
