09 VLX wakesurf setup

I've searched for "09 vlx wakesurf setup/settings"... I get the phonebook, and not specific topics.

So... who has experimented with different wakesurfing setups with 09 VLX?

Is there a specific speed?

Wedge 45degrees down? all the way down? up?

or is the default presets accurate?

I get a decent wave, but it gets weird or washed out. never a good curl.

does the driver have to drive in a big wide turn the whole time?

From my experiences, the wedge has to be all the way down speeds between 10 and 12 (it really dosent matter). I have the jumbo surf sac that holds 1100LBS in the left rear locker (it can not hold the full wheight but it holds much more than the 750LBS thsat most people put in). That is my best result. Of course everybody sitting port side! Good luck and let me know if you find a different setup that works better.

We run a 750 in the locker, 2 V Drive sacs on the seats, 1 V Drive sac in the bow, all MLS full except non surf side. Speed about 10.8 and wedge a click or two up from all the way down. This is with only my wife and I in the boat. We wont fill all the sacs if we have more people. Wave is plenty big with alot of push. Drive in a straight line, you shouldnt have to turn the boat to keep a good wave.

Something else to think about. There are also other posts (I can't find them ..sorry) where people have also had to add strengthening ribs to the plastic partion between the motor and locker when they run bags as this plastic can bend and pop in on the motor. Has anybody added additional strength to the floor or is just having the ballast tank full enough. I have 900 lb bags in each locker for wakeboarding and fill one for surfing. I have added a 3/4" piece of plywood (resin sealed and carpeted) but I do think in hindsight it was overkill.

Who does that?

good info, thanks for the replies.

I don't have any sacs, so I guess I'm getting the best wave possible without adding sacs.
