Another stolen boat, this the 4th or 5th that I've heard of this year in our area. They caught the last guy, it's too hard to sell stuff off of these boats with out getting tracked down.

They should allow the proper owner to remove the thieves hands with a rusty hacksaw. Guns.gifBash.gifMad.gif

Sort of on topic (at leats as much as you guys), How do you lock the trailer anyways? I've never had to because we always store it in a garage, but I was just curious. (Extreme T/A)

Oh ya and reading this makes me cringe. I probably wouldn't want it back, I'd feel violated with something as close as my bu being stolen. I'd certainly get a new one though!

You can padlock the latch for the tongue shut, plus I pull the pin swing the tongue out, put the pin back in and lock it in, that pretty much means you would need a flat bed to take it away. But I rarely need to do that since it sleeps in the garage.

I pay up the insurance on my truck and my boat. I leave the keys in the ignition with the interior light on. I put a bottle of Jack Daniels on the dash board. I put a note on the steering wheel that says "if you can't get this thing up to 100 pulling the boat, you're a wussy.".

Unfortunately since Bridge City Watersports went under it seems a lot of these boat have 2 owners. I met a guy at the last AWS event. He had his boat stored at Bridge City. Well Bridge City flippin' sold it while it was in storage! Yes, they sold HIS boat to another party. Well the guy who they sold it to finally went to register the boat and trailer 1 year later and when he did, the boat came up stolen, since the original owner reported it stolen. Long legal, insurance mess, but original owner is getting his boat back since he was in 1st position......He didn't know the condition or how many hours had been put on the boat. It seems that both parties kept paying on their loan?

Point is, and it's just a guess, but the original owner of the boat above, may have repo'd his own boat????????

Seriously?! Unreal.

Thanks to the likes of people on THIS forum, I got out of there without getting ripped off. Took some persistence, but I would never have known about it without you guys.

Yup! We were almost one of them. Had money down on the boat and waiting for financing to finalize when they shut the doors! No way to contact anyone for the money they had taken. Luckily it was on a credit card so a stop payment was made. There was absolutely no hint that this place was going down the days we were in there prior to this happening. Turns out we got really lucky by them closing their doors when they did! They were also selling boats that were traded in without paying them off from the previous owner.

Anyone know Gunter's latest status? What about Brad and his wife? We are still working on getting everything cleared up on our boat outta that mess. Almost there. And our boat stays locked in the garage.

Ole Brad was his partner in crime, literally. I was in there and had a face to face conversation with the both of them a couple months before this went down. I couldn't tell anything was going on, but I did find it suspicious how they were doing anything to sell a boat. I mean going way above and beyond and now it makes sense because it wasn't costing them a dime, it was all profit.

I feel really bad for those guys that traded in a boat and bought a new one with them. They got screwed twice in the same transaction.

Me, too. I also can't figure out how they aren't in jail and/or haven't been physically harmed? I heard someone saw Gunter and Brad eating on the waterfront awhile ago. Hmmm..... I remember one of the investigative reporters going to Gunters house looking for him, but must be old news now.....

I was pretty relaxed last year with my VLX. My buddy said "do me a favor and just bring the keys with you when we head back to camp." Yes, I would leave the keys in ther boat anchored in deep water. Oh if you would have known you could have had a free vlx. The hec was I thinking? Anyway the Wakesetter is always locked up now.

Oh and let me tell you I bought the boat from one of Brad's cronies at Bridge City. Lucky my bank got the title on Tuesday before the sherrif closed the door or I would have been screwed. On the flip side I got a smokin' deal on a 2008. Pisses me off I offerred them such a high amount. They would 've takin anything. I feel for those not so lucky. I was two days from screwed in the who ha.

No doubt, people have been killed for far less.

Wow, I heard about a stolen Wakesetter in the PDX area and I felt queezy......

Then somebody mentioned Bridge City :vomit: :vomit: :vomit:

and now the infamous Gunther?:cry::badmood::Frustrated::rant::vomit:

What a horrific thread. I'm going riding.

ps. I hope (for both our sake's) I never ever run into Gunther.

I'm not quite sure how this thread went from a reporting of a stolen Wakesetter to a bashing of Gunther and Bridge City. Let it go and move on with your life.

I hope the person who had their boat stolen gets it back and the thieves get what they deserve.

I am. An earlier post suggested that the boat may actually have 2 owners (thanks to our wonderful friends at Bridge City)and the original owner came for what was his. Not a crazy assumption given the recent history of BCWS. Like Paul, with Bakes, said; there's a pretty darn small market for a stolen boat like this. Anyway it's BCWS, and Gunther's fault that their name is synonymous with crime, dishonesty, and Malibu boats in the Portland Area. I'd also venture to say that every thread for the next ten years involving PDX, crime, and Malibu Boats on this forum will also have the word "Gunther" somewhere in one of the posts....as it should be IMHO. I've long since moved on, but I see no reason to hold my tongue when it comes those crooks. Speaking as a Malibu owner who was very nearly taken for 60k, I think I have that right (and I'm not sure I should be admonished for that).

Please understand no offense is intended to you OB. Just my 2 cents.
