Seat Covers (skins) 2000 Sunsetter LXI

Recommended Posts

Looking to replace seat covers(skins) for a few of my seats in my 2000 Sunsetter LXI. Does Malibu still have them in stock or do I have to have a shop make them. Is there a quality individual that members would recommend.

Thanks

I just had my rear sunpad and 5 seats re-upholstered by a local shop in Palo Alto, Ca. He was able to match the vinyl and stitching perfectly. Looks like new. Most shops will have big books of samples where they can match the color and texture. Try contacting your local dealer and ask for a recommendation. The shop I used I got as a reference from Norcal Mastercraft.

Search for Chee on the board, he works at the Malibu factory and does this work on the side, good prices and you get factory skins because he uses the factory templates.

Depending on what the issue is with your seats you might be able to have them repaired rather than replaced.

Several of my LXi seat covers were seperating badly at the seam under the piping. I took the seat covers off and brought the entire disassembled seats to a local auto/boat upholstery shop and he resewed them, restretched and reassembled the seats for about $50 each. They look great, just like new. I had this done over last winter so I'll have to see how they last but it was a quick, easy, cheap fix.

Lieutenant Dan, thanks for the response, I actually did that with my old Mastercraft and should of thought of it. I may take one aparts as my problem is the seams are beginning to separate on a few seats.

On anothr note, what kind of tower do you have on your LXI

I have the Skylon Swoop Classic. (The boat originally had the Skylon Tuna Tower which is in my photo but I accidentally broke it off the very first trip I took after I bought the boat used in 2003).
