SPARK PLUG WIRES

Recommended Posts

My RLX with Monsoon is nine years old and still screams. Do I need to replace the spark plug wires at some point? Should I get the Indmar blue wires or does anybody have a part number for good plug wires from the auto parts store? :dontknow:

It wouldn't be a bad idea to replace them due to age.

I just did mine after 10 yrs. Even though, they weren't giving me any trouble.

I bought these the red ones make the boat go faster.

Temperature is what makes plug wires age quickly. These boats don't really see much in the way of temperature under the hood (so to speak), so they are probably okay. Certainly, at some point maintenance will be required as noted, so now may not be a bad time. Mine lasted over 10, but as noted, the colored ones do add some pizazz under the cover, I went with blue so you have many choices.

One way to check is to fire up the engine in the dark with the engine cover up and see if there is any arcing near the plugs or distributor area.
