Check my post from today and see if it sounds like the same....some good responses so far that may cure your problem. ***5.7 Indmar bogging down**

How old is your gas. I recently had some issues which were resolved by draining the tank and putting in new gas. Bad gas is more likely to vaporize when hot which can cause poor performance.

The gas is new but now im finding that there is two other instances from a friend boat mechanic that the place where i got gas is a local owned store and people have had problems with gas specially in watercrafts. Needless to say i filled up all 41 gallons so i might have to drain out entirely unless anyone knows of a solution without draining such as some miracle additive. I dont mind draining to have a peace of mind that im not damaging other components.

Ok so i changed the fuel filter, changed the distributor cap, changed plugs and wires cleaned the fuel pump screen run diagnostic on it and dont get no error codes but still sputtering when you throttle at about 2k rpms. What next?

EFI or carbed engine.

efi engine

forgot to also mention that i hooked up a pressure guage and is holding steady at around 40psi. Another weekend by with no RIDE!

If your coolant temperature sensor is not working properly and letting the ECM know the engine is warming up, the ECM may be restricting your RPM's. It is referred to as phased warm up. When you say sputtering, is it more like an RPM restriction, or is the engine actually missing?

Normal fuel pressure is 37 to 45, so your good there.

Would that throw an error code on my diagnostic cpu hook up, because im not getting any error codes. I also am not seeing temp spike on my guage, its normal as usual.

The sensor that feeds coolant temperature info to your ECM and the sensor that is fed thru your dash gauge are two different sensors with two seperate and independent circuits. A normal gauge reading has nothing to do with the info being fed to your ECM. The coolant temperature sensor wired to your ECM would either have to fail open or be shorted out to throw a code. If it is operating abnormally, it would not throw a code because it is still operating.
