Bonding to fiberglass

Recommended Posts

The frame around my in floor storage is a little weak, and I am going to make two small support bars to make it a little more robust.

I will need to bond these to the fiberglass flooring, and wonder if anyone can recommend the specific material to do this.

I am going to make the part out of Delrin (polycarbonate) or Aluminum, and will have about a 1" x 3" contact area between the piece i make and the underside of the floor.

Use composit resin (fiber glass resin) and a piece of fiberglass over the manufactured piece. Try to work in a controlled environment to keep the moistre done and temperature undercontroll.

Use the G-Flex kit from West Systems. It's a kit with everything you need for small projects, for about $20. It's also the best (epoxy resin vs. poly resin) for bonding dissimilar materials. Just did a project with it and loved it.
