Blower Motor

Recommended Posts

I feel stupid for asking this question, but I pretty much have this entire boat torn apart and I have yet to locate the blower...? When I hit the blower switch, I don't hear a blower as I did on my 89 Sunsetter. Anyone know where the blower is supposed to be on this boat?

When I pulled everything out, the vent hoses weren't hooked up to anything, which I thought was a little strange. Looking all around the motor, I don't see a blower fan of any sort. Anyone with one of these older boats able to tell me where the blower motor is supposed to be mounted and how it's hooked up? Anyone able to take any pics?

Thanks for any help!

I'm not sure that it looks like "blower fan" I would have thought of. But here is an example of one.

They are either white or black in color. And are screwed into the stringer by the motor mount. Gas fumes are heavier than oxygen so it should be at the lowest point in the bilge.

Is there a switch on the dash for it? Can you trace the wires?

Mines attached to the transmission/bell housing, on the driver side by the starter, below the distributor.

Yours is probably missing. U can attach it anywhere low in the motor box.

Thanks for the help! Mine definitely doesn't have one... Can't believe that would be taken out, but getting an older boat like this, you never know what people have done before you!

So, another question... there are two outlet hoses to the vent, but only one blower... how are the two hooked into the one blower output? Looks like I can easily get the blower and hose from Bakes, but I don't see anything that joins the two hoses... something like a Y-Adapter...?
