Setting Idle speed with Stargazer installed

Recommended Posts

Since the crash all malibu dealers in my area went belly up. Now I'm doing my own maintenance or having it done by a local Bass Boat shop. I have 2005 Sunscape with Monsoon 340 and Stargazer PP. When I put the boat in the water this Spring (had it winterized and some adjustments to perfect pass system (RPMS weren't registering properly and water temp gauge had stopped working when it was installed) everything was running fine, RPMs registering on PP gauge (still no water temp., actually it just reads 89 degrees all the time) but the idle is at 1300 which is too fast. I don't want to take it in just for that if I don't have to, so here are my questions. How can I adjust the idle lower, what is the correct speed, how do I do it so Perfect Pass is not affected? Thanks for any help.

Well you wont have any water temp with stargazer unless the paddlewheel is installed.

And adjusting the idle should not effect perfrect pass at all.

That sounds great, but how do I adjust the idle and to what speed?

Is the '05 Throttle By Wire?

Idle should be around 650.

Is your throttle plate closing all the way when @ idle?

Edit - May want to give the guys at PP a quick ring. They are VERY friendly & helpful & will pretty quickly be able to tell you if it's an issue with PP or unrelated.

IIRC - the connection for PP with the '05 was just a plug into an existing harness that was already under the dash.

This is a shot in the dark, but my guess is that you have a grounding problem somewhere. I would call Malibu directly. BU dealers call with strange problems, a BU tech. should be able to diagnose the problem for you. Good luck.

The water temp feature had been disabled by PerFect Pass on modules for Malibu boats, if its a generic module you would need to have a paddle wheel with a temperature sensor installed.
