De-winterize

Recommended Posts

Tighten hoses, put batteries in, change the oil, change the impeller and go. It all depends on how it was winterized ie. plugs left out, impeller out, etc.

To be clear, if you changed the oil as part of the winterization (recommended - don't want to leave the old oil sitting in the engine all winter), then no need to change the oil in the spring.

For me, there really isn't that much to worry about in the spring. I make sure my battery is fully charged (nothing like getting to the pond to dump her in, only to have a dead battery ), take a quick check to make sure the drain plugs are in and hoses tight, then fire her up and go.

If that ever happens just give the boat a good hard push to get it moving and then bump start it.

Now that's just plain silly. Just make sure to launch on the downhill part of the lake, then you don't have to push it all.

Did you winterize it yourself or did a shop do it? If you did it yourself just follow the same steps in reverse. If a shop did it the search the forums here and you will find plenty of advice.

As for comments from SunriseH2OSkier and NorCaliBu, just ignore them. Everyone knows all you have to do is face the boat upstream and let the downstream water flow start the boat. :loser:

And welcome to the Crew. You just learned how helpful and childish we can be.
