Keeping Feet Warm in a Drysuit

Brian M.

Recommended Posts

I just bought an Eagle drysuit and will be picking up a pair of O'Neill Psycho gloves to keep my hands warm (I've heard they're awesome).

What do you guys use to keep your feet warm/dry? Anything out there similar to the Psycho gloves for your feet?

Brian

PS. I've also read that using a pair of Nitrile Gloves underneath really keeps your hands dry.

My wife knit me a pair of nice thick wool socks I keep on the boat for the real cold days.I put those on after. I bought a pair of the water tight socks for my ski bus (Seal Skins) I think but he has not tried them.

The best way to keep you feet warm is to do a dock start and never get them wet. We used to do this in college all the time. Just make sure there are no nail heads popping up that could catch your dry suit and tear it. I learn that one the hard way.

I use my bindings  But, you could try these... http://www.oneill.com/#/men/americacanada/collection/men/wetsuits/surf/boots_hoods_gloves/heat_sock_pair/black/

or these...

neither of which I have used but would consider getting.

After I get out I am usually swapping and getting into the drivers seat, so I turn the seat heater on, wrap a fleece around my feet and put the hot tube (from the heater) in there.

I've always been told that you have to pee in your wetsuit to warm things up, but I guess that wouldn't work well in a drysuit, uh? BTW, be very leary about buying used wetsuits

Seal Skinz are the best. They WILL keep your feet dry. Just don't use them when barefooting. You'll ruin the "water-proof-ness"...

Edit: Here's another llink to some neoprene socks.
