Another fuel filter question

I have a 2000 VLX that has the two filters, one on each side of the pump. I just replaced the LP filter. I took off a Wix 33033 and replaced with a Fram G3870. Now without getting into the whole difference in quality, are these interchangeable? I had ordered the Fram from skidim over a year ago and just now got around to replacing it. The Fram is quite a bit larger than the Wix and I doubt the Wix on there was original. Can LP in-line fuel filters be interchanged as long as the inlet/output are the same size?
