vertical ballast pumps?

Recommended Posts

Getting ready to install my ballast system. Does anyone have any input on mounting the Tsunami pumps in the vertical position? 1"Thru-hull>1"bronze Ball Valve to pump.I have seen pics of some installs this way. Is there greater chance of air locks or not priming as well? I realize they need to be below water line. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian

My stock fill pump is like this. I have had no issues with priming, it will fill while underway (as long as you start the fill operation before getting on plane) and the access is good for maintenance.

As long as they are below the water line there it doesn't matter how they are mounted.
