Temp Guage MAXED

the teperature gauge is at the max temp on my 98 sportster... could this be the sensor or guage? thanks for any help

Probably a bad ground. You can check using a volt meter to see if it goes open and reads max temperature or the other way around.

I assume you’re saying it peaked when you started the motor and didn’t even have time to warm up. If so, then yes, sensor, gage, ground, ect.

If your gauge is maxed out you may have more issues than just a bad gauge. How long has it been like that?

On my 98 Sunsetter, my gauges were doing funky things. I narrowed it down to the gauge computer...or MMDC. Bakes has replacement units, they're not cheap. But it's the only place I found that has them.
