the topic should get results. Can anyone tell me how long a dipstick should be on a 2007 malibu iride 320 lcr. when i dump the oil i fill it with 4 1/2 quarts i end up having to suck out a little bit. i've drained it in the driveway and also used a pump while in the water with the same results. i have to wonder if the stick is a little too long. is it possible?

What does your owner’s manual say the oil capacity is? 4 ½ quarts doesn’t sound like it’s enough but then I don’t know what your system should hold. Could that cap on the dip stick have slid closer to the finger grab? In essence, that would make it longer.

Could be you are not getting all of the oil out when you are draining it. I always tilt the front of my boat down when changing oil to get the most out. Even fold your jack if there is someone there to help you.

Your total capacity should be 5.5 quarts. I have never been able to get it all out either. My best success was when I actually ran the boat on the lake (rather than just idle in the driveway) I got close to 5 quarts out.
