GPS/Depth finder

Recommended Posts

I want to install a gps with a depth finder on my boat, but I don't know which ones are good and which to avoid. Does any one know what features would be more important to look for as far as being more reliable and accurate? How difficult is it to install a depth finder, or would I be better off looking for a professional to do it?

My main interest is a good map to navigate the local river and sloughs, with a depth finder module to monitor the depth through the tide changes in sloughs.

Weedragn... I installed a Depth, Air/Water temperature gauge on my boat... The hardest part of the installation was getting enough guts to drill a two inch hole in the bottom of the boat hull... I choose Faria only because that is the gauge Sanger uses... I ordered it straight from Sanger, they gave me the instructions on how to install it and where to drill the hole... I do have a GPS on my boat but it is a hand held made by Garmin it works great!... Hope this helps... Good Luck!
