powdercoated G3?

Recommended Posts

Anyone powdercoat a G3 tower yet? I can't stand the mat black finish on the tower...especially since my boat will have a lot of black on it and it doesn't match. Anyone strip this and powdercoat or powdercoat the chrome? Was thinking about making the mat black gloss black and chrome dark blue.

I am going to powdercoat my tower black as well. It is a white ilussion xs. I don't like the look of the mat finish on the new g3's either. How hard is it to remove these towers? Anyone removed an illusion xs before?

pablo tower is fairly easy to do, need a buddy to help though. Make sure they don't sand blast off the grey primer material under the existing powder coat. Maybe they can just powder coat ontop of the existing black? Not sure.

Awesome, why can't they just put a primer on before they powder coat the tower?

They can just make sure they actually do it.

Yep! Shiers Pier did one white for the Detroit show this year! It looked great!

I know these are old posts... I am looking to powder coat the chrome on my g3. I want to match it to the wrinkle black of the tower. anyone have any experience with this, or how hard it is to seperate the black form the chrome.

Thanks

It's super easy to powder coat over stainless steel.

The "shiney" part of the g3 is stainless steel not chrome.

The tube comes of easy, but I recommend removing the tower from the boat first. That's not so easy.
