Rubber Inserts on Titan Racks Pops Out

I took delivery of a brand new '07 Malibu Wakesetter in Nov '07 and by August '08, I had to take the Titan spinner racks back to the dealer because the rubber inserts had all popped out. I received my racks back looking nice and new but now, after a single season, the rubber inserts have all popped out again only worse than before. I e-mailed the local Malibu dealer and he said the only warrantable action is to repair the existing racks by re-gluing the rubber inserts. This seems odd to me and I'm not happy with having to take the racks in each season for re-gluing. Has anyone else had this kind of problem with Titan racks? Is there any other type of fix? My dealer has offered to sell me a completely rubberized upgrade for $225 per rack but I am hesitant to go that route just yet. I'm interested in seeing what other folks' experiences have been before taking next steps. I appreciate any feedback anyone might have on this.

I had the same problem. I spoke to my dealer and they replaced the forks with the vinyl/rubberized ones. No charge.

I've seen this a bunch. The adhesive heats up an loses it's effect. Personally, I would go buy some gorilla glue and do it myself, I like the look of the metal racks vs the rubber dipped lowrider racks. One plus about the rubber coming out is that when it starts to break down and crack (It will eventually) you can replace it...

I had the same problem and used shoe goo to glue them in. I used shoe goo because I am sure I will have to replace the rubber at some point and the shoe goo should peel off like silicone vs using a glue that would be almost impossible to get off completely.

What is Shoe goo? I've never heard of it.

Thanks to all for the feedback.

I used gorilla glue at the beginning of last season. It held up well during the season. We'll see how it did during the off-season in a few weeks.

Edit: The previous year, I used marine goop. It held up OK during the season, but the steel was too slick for it & it all come undone during the winter.
