Bad fill/drain pumps?

Recommended Posts

DC_UGAFAN

So my first day back on the water introduced me to a couple new issues with my ballast. After replacing my stock hard tanks with Launchpad 540's I wanted to go try them out and when I got on the water my fill pumps were not working. One of those was not a surprise b/c it has always poped the breaker when I turn it on but the other 2 were a surprise. When I flip the switch to fill the light comes on but the pump does not, it does not pop a breaker. Is there a way to troubleshoot this issue to see if it is not the pumps?

Go straight to the pumps and see if they're getting 12V power and ground.

Apparantely, it's pretty common that something gets sucked into the pump and hangs up the impeller.

The pumps are serviceable, you just have to disassemble the bottom part of it that has the impeller in it.

Some times they just get stuck from sitting a long time. Open pump cartridge and spin the impeller, it may be locked up and take a bit to get it to spin. I have had a couple do that. Ran fine after getting them freed up again.

Mine did the same thing. I just removed the bottom of the pump and found there was some weeds stuck in it. after that it worked fine
