CFT Blade Tower

Does the CFT Blade Tower have more head room than the Illusion X? When I test drove the VLX I hit my head a few times on the Illusion X tower. I love the look of the tower but can't imagine having it on my boat considering it would be a hazard for my head. My dealer thought the CFT is taller and would provide more head room. Does anyone have this tower? Do you like it hate it? Whats the Beef? Also, is the tower lighter than the Illusion X?

I believe that it is taller than the Illusion, BICBW. My husband is 6'3" & had the same problem with the Illusion, it's just a hair too short. With that said, we ended up going with the Illusion anyway because once you put a bimini & speakers on a Titan you get the same results. I guess it just comes down to learning to duck your head.

I haven't heard good things about the Blade tower's strength & rigidity - that coupled with the cost is probably why you aren't seeing too many around. If you search around here a bit, there were a couple of discussions just recently on this very topic.

Also, on the Illusion-X the bimini mounts OVER the tower, but on the CFT it mounts UNDER it, so even if the CFT is taller, you probably lose that or more if you use a bimini.

I personally only consider height with bimini extended. We never take it down in these parts, heh.

I'm 6'1" and I don't hit my head on the Illusion.

I believe the CFT is slightly taller. I played with one at the factory last year. Lets jsut say, it wasn't my first choice. If you use a bimini, the CFT setup is not that great, and it is mounted lower which means you'll really have to bend over getting back and forth. Plus, no aftermarket.......

Like Boomer said, the bimini on the Illusion is above the tower and is superior to any bimini on the market. I hate bimini's but the Illuion one has been great.

Edge is a dealer and his points are also spot on.
