The tool I use came with the boat. It is 3/8 and about 12" long. I use a rachet and 3/8 socket to spin it. A thin coat of anti sieze is a good idea too.

Skyskier is right on. It is a 3/8, and I keep mine in the boat.

Thanks guys, it's definitely 3/8" and no local hardware/auto parts stores has one that length. Hope to pic one up tomorrow @ a Northern Tool about 40 mins up the road. Looked through the boat, doesn't look like the owner has it aboard.

Sorry to hijack but about to use the boat again and will need to put the cross bar back on after removing from garage. Do I need to be careful how tight to crank down the bolts? Anti-seize is a good idea, thanks.

Bolts are supposed to be torqued to 50 lbs. Anti sieze is also required on the threads.
