I've been running synthetic since 100hrs......once the engine stops burning oil you can change to synthetic with no worries.

Conventional oil(group 3) has closed the gap between itself and synthetic oil (group 4 & 5). The only real advantage syn gives you anymore is extended oil change intervals. Since my interval is determined by the length of summer, syn does nothing for me. Besides, most syn's are not synthetic anymore, just further refined conventional oil (called group 4). The true synthetics are refered to as group 5 oils, even though they are olifins, not oils.

I think the best is amsoil 15w-40 heavy duty diesel and marine, but I would use the pre flush first.the has a additive for moisture control for block, less break down, longer oil change int.Can be used after 60hrs,once fully broke in.Gives you better fuel consumtion, quiets engine also.
