05 VLX vs 07 LSV for surfing

OK,

last thread start for me, I am almost ready to buy. I have two boats I am close on I think I could land. One is an 05 VLX the other an 07 LSV. The LSV has power wedge all the led's etc better stereo and a color scheme I like better. I generally have my family of 4 plus 4-6 other folks on the boat. My primary purpose for buying an inboard is surfing. They both have pretty low hours, the lsv is about 5 grand more. For surfing purposes which would be the better all around boat in you guys opinion. I have only owned runabouts and pontoons. Another reason I like the Lsv is we like to kneeboard and itgives a little more room for those in the boat. What I am concerned about is buying extra boat I dont need and then having it not surf as good

I have surfed both of those boats with the same ballast set up and I'll have to say the VLX is good (my boat), but the LSV is like having a wall push you. There is a huge difference in the surf wakes. Go with the larger LSV especially with the added options, it's newer, and you like the color combo better. It will also help with the large crew you have. Is there front ballast in either of them? If not budget to get that put in, but it wouldn't be a deal breaker as you can add it.

Good luck! I would say test them out but its kind of hard this time of year.

Maybe that's something you can negotiate if you're buying it at a Malibu dealer.

Also since you're out of warranty, make sure everything is working. If not ask them to fix it as part of negotiation. Good luck!

I have an 08 VLX and I love to wake surf behind it. However, the LSV is a bigger boat that is newer, has the power wedge, better stereo, better color scheme, and can accomidate more people. Seems like you should go with the boat that you are clearly leaning towards. Get the right boat for you and make sure to test drive them. You may get in the LSV and decide it is way to big for you or you may get in and feel like it is perfect. If you are going to be carrying 8-10 people all the time, both boats can handle it but the LSV will be able to do it more comfortably.
