Acme 537 vs. 1161

Recommended Posts

I am a newbie and just bought my 2005 23LSV late this summer. I had a run in with some underwater "unfriendlies" and damaged my prop, shaft, strut, rudder, etc.

I filed an insurance claim, got everything fixed and picked it up from the shop a couple months ago.

I just recently noticed that my shop put an ACME 1161 prop on my boat to replace the 537 I had on it previously.

They didn't tell me they were putting a different prop and based on my research it looks like the only difference is the cup on the 1161 prop. (537=.105 cup, 1161=.135 cup)

My questions are:

1) What difference will the minor change in cup make?

2) Which is a better prop for wakeboarding?

Thanks for your help.

I've run that prop before and if I remember correctly ACME told me it should have the same dig out of the hole but maintain some more top end speed as well.
