Time to replace batteries

Recommended Posts

It is time to replace the batteries in my 2006 wakesetter. What is the best battery to use?

It depends on what you have in your boat. Do you have a stereo, tower lights, etc... All this will determine what kind of battery you should get. If you are just stock with one battery you should at least add an additional battery for emergency backup. Interstate marine batteries are really good and pretty inexpensive, I'd get the group 27. Costco also has marine batteries but I don't know how long they last.

My longest lasting battery was a Sears marine Diehard (13 years), second was an AC/Delco marine (10 years). Both took a pounding, being used in the ocean on a 14 ft boat.

14 footer, on the OCEAN. If that's not in a bay, you got some big cajones! Surprised.gif

I'm scared to take our Skier on Lake Erie!

when i saw the topic title i thought, oh someone is reminding us to change the batteries in any battery operated smoke detectors we might have.

on the boat batteries, i have always used optima blue tops from costco. With a gel battery, you do not have to worry about leaks or fumes.

It was indeed in the ocean, but I had to cross a bay to get there. Then we would ski up and down the NJ coast, even going out till you couldn't see shore anymore. My 14 ft Winner is a very stable and safe boat. Never a real scare in 40 years. Hijack;off.

Would that more properly be called 14 Ft of awesomeness?
