IN-LINE FUEL FILTER LOCATION?

Recommended Posts

I discovered this forum a few weeks ago and I can't thank all of you enough for helping me get through a steering cable replacement without any problems. This is my first post and I hope somebody will be willing to help with a few questions.

I have a 2001 Sportster on which I have always done my own preventive maintenance. It has come to my attention that there may be an in-line fuel filter in addition to the spin-on. If this is the case, I have been missing that replacement for all these years. So 2 questions...

(1) Is there an in-line fuel filter on the Sportster?

(2) If so, where is it located?

Thanks for the advice.

On my 2000 there is only the spin-on. I think it's safe to say that if you had an in-line as well you'd know it because it would be clogged by now. Yes.gif:lol:

Just follow the fuel line from the motor back to the fuel tank. If for some reason there is a second filter one would assume that it would not be mounted in an inaccessible location.

Thanks for the quick reply. That was the conclusion I had come to as well. I never was able to find an in-line filter between the tank and pump, but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something! Thanks again.

My 2003 Sporty has one near the tank inside the hull vent in the back. I dont have a spin on one near the engine though. I think you have one or the other, not both, but I might be mistaken.
