Liquid Force Venture 5.0

I am about to purchase a Liquid Force Venture 5.0. I am looking for opinions on this board. This will be my first time riding, I'm 6.0 and 200 lbs. I will be using a 08 Response Lxi with some Fat Sac style ballast yet to be purchased. In your opinion will I be able to go ropeless ? Is trying to surf a RLxi pointless ?

How much ballast will you have?

The Venture is a fairly easy board to ride and you certainly should be able to go ropeless behind a weighted Response. We rode that board a few years ago behind a friend's SN 206 without any problems. It is a fairly stable board and is not very 'loose'. It is a good beginner to intermediate board.

I haven't actually purchased any yet so I'm open to opinions but I was thinking the Fly High 750 lb tube and some friends.

We have a VLX and use a 750 to go ropeless along with wedge. I'm sure you can do it just make sure you have enough weight. Maybe 2 750's and people or even add a 450. Head for the deep water.

Deep water is key for sure as much as ballast is. It's all about water displacement. I can tell when I'm riding on we go over a sand bar :-( I feel like I should be on a slalom ski at that moment.
