Changing guages

Recommended Posts

I have a 92 skier and would like to change out and upgrade the guages for a nicer look. My questions are:

1. What would I need to do to change the temperature guage form a guage with just lines to a guage with actual temp. numbers? Do I just put in a new guage or is there something else.

2. What would I need to do to add a high temp alarm as my boat does not have one? This is not a must, but would be nice to have for someone else driving boat that may not constantly look at the temp guage like I do.

3. Can I just put in new speedometers or will I have to swap out the water intakes in the back of boat?

4. Basically same question for fuel guage?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jason

I swapped out the 4 individual gauges for a 4-1 unit that was available at Overton's. The senders all matched the required outputs of the existing sendors, so all the gauges are accurate (fuel gauge is a bit off, but that is not the gauge). Cleaned up the dash nicely and allowed me to install a speed control on the opposite side and keep the two Airguide speedo units. You can swap out the speedo, you will just have to calibrate the new one to the pickup flow, usually just by adjusting the knob on the unit itself. I would suggest upgrading the pickups to the pitot style, also available at SKIDIM as they are much less prone to clogging.
