Trunk lid Door broken 04 Response Lxi

I have a 2004 Response LXI with a broken rear trunk lid door. I took it off and peeled back the skin and found it to be corrugated metal which just gave out. Has anybody else had this problem? What are my options to replace it? Can I use plywood and re-use the skins? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Mine started to come apart where the hold open hydraulic bracket is attached. I was thinking about installing a plate to distribute the load before the damage gets too far along.

If you use wood make sure it marine grade.

Better yet use Starboard. It's a plastic/composit material most of the seat back/bases etc in your boat are likely built from. Overtons sells it I think.

Malibu can build upholstery back to 2003 right now, you can order a complete hatch from Malibu (complete minus hardware like latch and hinge) for around $375 so if your hatches are in bad shape know that you have that option that the factory can build them still.
