Break-in for 2006 Response lxi

Just bought a 2006 Response lxi with 30 hours. Didn't get any manuals so I have lots of questions. Top of my list: What is the breaking period? Am I past it at 30 hours? Supposedly the previous owner took it in already for oil change/tune-up after break-in but provided no maint records. Anything else I should have on my radar? Thanks in advance.

Here man, print this out. At least the pages that are english :). You can take it to some business store(Staples maybe) and they can wrap it in a nice binding for you. (I am assuming you have an indmar.)

Thank you so much for the manual. That really helps. Other than the test drive I only had it out for a quick couple runs and I was very tentative because I just wasn't sure. I'm out tomorrow for a longer day and I will definitely drive it "like I stole it". I ran across this site as I was researching my potential purchase and appreciated the collective wisdom from so many members on a number of topics. I'm trying to keep my simple questions to a minimum until I've reviewed the vast amount of information already posted -- but I'm sure to be back with more. Very impressed with TheMalibueCrew and look forward to being a more active member (once I've learned something useful to contribute). In the meantime, is it wrong that I pull up pics of the new ride several times a day?

Don't be afraid to ask questions if you can't find an answer. There is a good winterization PDF if you need to do any storage in Pistol Pete's signature and that manual has a lot of good stuff in it. What you should do is use the pics as desktop backgrounds and have them in a rotation(I believe there is a program that will automatically rotate them.) =)

With no maintenance records and a 4 year old boat, I might be a little concerned about the impeller. If

he's changed it, great. If not, it's had 4 yrs. to dry rot. $30 part. Takes less than 10 minutes to change

out. That'd be top of my list.

Yeah post some pics.

Is that a pic of it in your profile? Red with Illusion tower?

Oh by the way, the only "annoying" thing about this site is the overabundance and wealth of information you'll get from use Malibu owners. Thumbup.gif

Yeah, Pickup an impeller - even if it doesn't need to be changed this very moment (you can take it out and take a look at it. I'd also consider changing the fluids - oil/filter and tranny - at least make sure they are clean. The Wix and Napa Gold oil filters have a really good reputation on this site. Look into the fuel pump as well.

I just picked up an 01 last month. The impeller was good but everything else I list is getting changed next spring or has been changed already. There is a list of maintenance times in the PDF manual.

Thanks for all the great advice. The service manual indicated that the winterizing process includes taking out the impeller for winter storage so I guess I'll catch it in that process along with the fluids and filters. And that is a pic of the boat in my profile -- I can't figure out how to post a pic, but as soon as I doI'll get one up. Thanks again everyone.
