2008 Monsoon burns oil

We have a 2008 23LSV with the Monsoon. Currently it has about 130hrs and we go through about a quart of oil every five hours. Does that seem normal?

None of my other boats have ever burnt that much oil

That's not normal at all.

mine does not use oil between changes.

I would make sure your oil filters on tight, also make sure that the gasket from your last oil filter isnt still on....you'd be suprised at how many times of seen this

YIKES!

In my own personal experience, I have never seen a boat that burns a quart every 5 hours. Sounds like you have a problem there. I have seen the Hammerhead engines burn a little between changes but nothing like you are talking about. You might want to get that checked out for sure.

Do you notice any oil in the bilge?

My Monsoon doesn't burn a drop...it never has. I'd get that in to the dealer ASAP, as you're under warranty, right?

I assumed that was too much oil consumption. Taking it to the dealer in a couple weeks, maybe it's time for a new engine because it's definately burning, not leaking

A boat uses that much oil is called a 2 stroke. No 2 strokes in Malibus.

At least you will not find any mosquitos around his boat.

Def check it out with the dealer..Oil can get thru into the cooling system. Any black or oil around your exhaust flaps. If not,,possibly a broken piston ring,,,compression check will find a quick answer.. Let us know what you find out.. Good Luck!!
