2008 V Ride vs 2002 XStar 205v

Ok here is the deal I own a 2002 Xstar. Actually love my boat but when it was sold to me the dealer assured me it would fit in my garage. My garage opening height is 83". Well the way the older MC tower works I cannot fit it in. I love my wake and only use the stock ballast am a beg/int rider. You guys are usually honest so how much of a difference is the wake with the full ballast set up on an 08 V Ride? Will I notice a difference and the illusion tower on that year how far does it fold down too. It just has to be below 83". Let me know what you guys think thanks ahead of time.

I can't comment on the wake difference as I have no experience with the MC Xstar. I have an 08 V Ride on a Extreme tandem trailer and I am able to get it in my garage with a 7' door height. I have to remove the bimini form the tower, mirror from the window and lower the trailer as far down as it goes and push it in by hand. I have a very flat driveway that helps with the pushing.

I have experience in both boats. First, on a tandem axle the 08 vride will go in a 7ft garage with illusion tower. Second, the 205v is my favorite wake of all time. However, they are not maintenance free boats. Ballast pumps go out every two yrs or so as does the fuel pump. The trailers, well they are just garbage. Wake to wake stock, the v-ride will be much better but also much wider. As you add weight, both wakes get bigger and better. As far as room and rough water ride the v-ride spanks the xstar in these two categories. I mean night and day difference. Try one out you will be pleased.

Well I am keeping the MC did what wrench monkey said and it worked got it in my garage. I would agree with you on the ride in rough its not great but I do LOVE the wake! I don't have MC goggles and think the ride/vlx are comparable boats build wise. Ballast pumps are a pain in the a** in general. I have friends with brand new boats all big three and have issues with the pumps going out etc. We have the best BU dealer in Tampa in Dom Forte' so was the reason I was thinking of a V Ride. Thanks guys for your help for now I am a MC guy.
