2006 Malibu VLX-Deal or No Deal?

Hello, I buying a boat for the first time and found something that really fits what i am looking for. So my question is, is he asking too much? (He is asking 40,000) NADA has this boat listed around 37,000 and i was thinking 40,000 seemed a little high given the number of hours on the engine. Any advice would be great.

I feel that the boat should be around the 32000 to 35000. To buy it for 40000 the boat better in like new condition IMO. Good luck on the new boat purchase.

$40K seems like a fair price to me. The $37K on nada doesn't include the trailer if you read the fine print. Trailer is $7K for a new one.

If you want it for $37K offer that to him and see what he says. I don't know what part of the country you are in but that has a pretty big factor on price.

That is a good price for the NW. FYI 206 hours is nothing.

Ask you self "If I spent $40K on the boat would I be happy with the purchase?"

If no then would you be happy if you got it for say $37K, oops some one got it for $40K but I am OK with it becasue I was only willing to pay $37 and the search goes on.........

I purchased my 2007 VLX loaded with every option available, minus shower and heater for $33,000 (without trailer). So for an '06 thats seems a bit high or I may have just got a great deal

Sounds a little bit high to me also. I bought an 06 23 LSV for $40,000 with trailer. All options except heater--186 hours.

Once again part of the country has everything to do with it.

Keep looking. Winter is just around the corner and there will be much better deals on the market. I'd say that is a beginning of the season price and it will come down as the fall/winter sets in, guaranteed...

If this boat has everything you are looking for, then the price is in the ballpark. The ask is $40k and no one thinks they are going to get asking price, so it is reasonable to offer 5% to 10% less.

If you are picky and you wait, you run the risk of not being able to find one with everything you are looking for... in my case I eventually got tired of looking for used and bought new. I think I was too picky and it cost me.
