Don't have a picture right now, but for us the wedge makes the wave firmer for wakeboarding providing more energy/push when jumping. It doesn't look that much bigger, but riders can really feel the diffrence. For surfing, we need the wedge down to get the push needed for going ropeless. Note, I have a 2003 LSV with diamond hull, not the wake hull and the manual wedge.

On my side,

All I can say is that the power wedge makes the wave a little bigger but, and most imortant, the upper edge of wave is more like a "<" instead of a "(" (please rotate 90 clockwise the symbol). For wakeboard, that's great. We never run without it.

But for wakesurf, my opinion is that it fills the wave with bubble. We run without the wedge for wakesurf. I prefer just plain weight : 900 lbs fat sack rear locker, rear surf side, center and bow MLS full and everybody in the boat surfside.

I have a 2009 Wakesetter 23LSV with the power wedge.

GREAT BOAT

I put a new floating wedge on my boat, will sell you my old wedge and mounting plate. It is powder coated chrome.

I don't think that I have any shots of the wake without the wedge. For both boarding & surfing most people liked it so much better with it deployed (stock ballast & not a big crew) that we just hardly ever went without it. I will say this: the one trip that we made without the wedge (we had lost the foil in the lake the weekend before & were waiting on the replacement to arrive), we played with some weight as a replacement. With an extra 200-300 lbs in each rear compartment, the wake was fantastic. What's really cool about the floating wedge is that it pretty closely replicated this without the extra weight.

Differences in foils on an '06 VLX

Old fixed wedge: For the wakeboarding wake, it made the wake steeper than without, but it put a lip at the top with a pretty nasty trough as part of the transition. For surfing it definitely made the wake taller/steeper, but shortened up the sweet spot.

Free floating wedge: I would say that it's the closest that they've been able to get to adding weight to the rear of the boat without actually adding it. It made the wake steeper than without the wedge, but didn't add the lip or (more importantly IMO) the nasty trough that the other wedge added. It very closely resembles adding about 200-300 lbs to each locker (on top of stock ballast) without having to fill the bags. For surfing, it made the wave taller than without the wedge but not as tall as the old fixed wedge made it under the same conditions. What it did do was lengthen the sweet spot, whereas the old wedge actually shortened it. So in all cases (IMO), the floating wedge was a big improvement. Add to it that you've got a foil that won't fail in the manner that the old ones will & you've got an absolute slam dunk to my mind.

How much do you want for it? Will it work on a 2000 Sunsetter LXi?
