03-06 RLXI owners...ECI or BI boom?

I'm thinking I may pick up a boom this off season (Xmas present for myself?) for some light duty usage. Will be used to help kids continue to progress along, and also learn to do some modest, recreational footing (before I get too old). I'm leaning towards the ECI primarily because of clamp is easier to remove (occasionally have to put Skylon up) and lighter weight. I don't believe there is an ECI "extension" available...and not sure if necessary.

Any insight appreciated. I do realize with the windshield coming back so far on this model boat, that special bend or "Quad Contour" is required.

Thanks, in advance, for any owners of these boats that care to share experiences.

For your model boat Bemmans is really the only option. The Quad-v boom is for a v-drive. ECI (Skylon) doesn't make a boom with a 17" offset for your windshield.

Thanks for the input, Peter. From what I could find, it looked like these would be options...

For BI, not the "Quad-V" but the "Quad Contour" advertised as "For boats with windshields that extend more than 8" behind the pylon"

Or for ECI, this one from the BC website... RLXI boom

I have an ECI ... unless they stopped making them ... on my RLXi. However, I prefer the Bemmans as it is less cluttered and easier to adjust up and down ... especially if you go out the driver's side of the boat. I traded my ECI clamp for a Bemmans so I am happy.

I use a BI extension. It fits BI, Bemman, and ECI

My mistake Dave! I wasn't aware that Tom had stepped up and made one. Now let's convince him to make an extension!

I was hoping for a Bemman-style extension, that fits between inner section and outer section of boom. Do you attach the leader to the end of your BI extension?

the pic above is a handle extension. That is, to hold on to. Description is this:

A boom accessory that has become very popular for all ages. For youngsters or smaller people, this device offers a small handle size grip to assure a secure grip.

I don't see on notch on that one to place a five foot handle leader out at the end.

Peter, that ECI boom from the BC website that says: "Designed specifically for the Malibu Responses LXI ski boat" looks exactly like what I got for my 03 RLX and still put on my 08 RLXi. I'd be willing to bet it has not been changed, but does 'fit' on the RLXi. If correct, that means:

It can NOT go out the driver's side.

Spray from the 03-06 RLXi will be a significant issue.

Spray from 07+ RLXi will render it useless.
