I wanted something stronger than factory. It seemed to do the trick.

What did you cut these pieces with? I have a plasma cutter, but have never cut aluminum with it. Can you work this type of material with a plasma cutter and get these results? I suddenly have a lot of things that need diamond plate!!

Looks cool but I could never do that, our feet would fry in 110 degree heat stepping on that.

I'm assuming where you're at the heat/sun isn't an issue.

It doesn't get hot. I've had it sit in the sun for hours and stood on the hatch. It's more reflective. However our temp's are in the 80 to 90 degree range.

I was going to use a plasma cutter, but after I traced them out I grabbed my jigsaw with a metal blade and went to work. I used a grinder with a sandpaper and cloth disc to smooth out the edges.

Right on. Love the diamond plate mod.

I found a local source for the 5 bar diamond plate used on Extreme trailers & modded the fenders on mine.

Great idea. I have enough plate to do that on my Dorsey.

I have cut aluminum diamond plate with my old trusty Craftsman 7;1/4" circular saw with a standard cross cut blade. Great for the straight cuts. Jig saw or sawzall for the curves. Yehaa!

While I'm not a big fan of diamond plate inside the boat, the trailer is another story. I got tired of the cross members and axles on my trailer getting beat up by rocks on my 1000 mile round trips to Lake Powell, so here is what I did:

That looks great but would never work out here in the oven of phoenix!!!! even the little alum. piece that holds the table gets too hot to step on during the summer....theres no way we could have that big ol' piece of diamond plate in the boat!!!
