Massive leak. HELP!!!!

Pondking

Can it be plugged temporarily so we can play today?? Pull it out cap hoses? Would that hurt anything?

If you can get to the heater, you can connect the input and output hoses together to form a loop. You'd need a double-sided barbed connector of some sort.

just pull the hoses off and either cap them, or bend hose in 1/2 near the end and tie it down.

i added shutoff values running to/from the heater - both to make it easier with future leaks, and also to shut off the water flow (and hopefully make the core last longer...)

i've had my core go out three times now in last couple of years. got a new one (cheap) from heatercraft 2 yrs ago but it didn't last long. it went out again this summer. had the local radiator shop fix it in June - but they must not have done a good job as it sprang a leak again two weeks ago.

i took it out yesterday and it's now sitting in the back of my truck. need to see if I can find a match locally. cooled off around here, so it might actually be useful!

Done! Thanks for the great advice...going to play and i'll put in the new core during the week. BTW very easy fix if anyone is interested I'll take pics of the repair and post. It seems to be a common problem.
