Replacing depth finder

Recommended Posts

I need to replace my lowrance 3500 depth finder in my '97 sunsetter. The problem is locating a transducer that will fit in the factory thru-hull location. Has anyone found a replacement? I have considered purchasing a Humminbird depth finder with a "puck" thru-hull transducer and install the transducer close to the original. Not sure how well it will work due to hull thickness. Any help will be appreciated.

is the lowrance transducer bad?

if the transducer is ok you might consider swapping the display / electronice w another lowrance w a similar connector.

i think the transducer is frequency dependent so you would need to check all of the specs.

might save you some tinkering on the hull.

Just buy a new depth finder with the puck. Glue the new puck next to the old transducer and you will be fine. I did the same thing a a couple of months ago and it works perfect
