What battery to replace original?

Need to replace the battery in our '04 Wakesetter, Monsoon 340. The original single battery is a Trojan 24SM-850, which is a starting-type battery with 860 CCA @ 32* F.

I'm looking at an Interstate 24M-XHD battery (starting type) with about the same CCA. I'm not running any subs/amps or major accessories.

Would a deep cycle battery would be better?

The Interstate will work fine. The deep cycle marine batteries are used for trolling motors and the like--they are designed to be drawn down as opposed to a starting battery. You might consider the deep cycle if you spend a bunch of time on the sand bar running your stereo because over time, that will run down the battery. Otherwise, the starting type of battery will work just fine (and is probably cheaper too!).

Do not use the deep cycle as a starting battery. I great battery is an AGM but it will cost you. I added a second battery to run my stereo is sitting and I rotate my old battery into that position after 4 years. I don't have a power hungry system that I blast so it works great.
