Propeller replacement

How does one determine when to replace a prop? What visual marks shoud one look for? Other than visual examination are there any other ways you can tell that the prop should be replaced? Driving maneuvers or specific vibrations to look for? If you have any insight on this please let me know.

Thanks,

Jon

You really don't have to see anything; however it's good to look at the prop or even inspect it closely.

If it vibrates, have it repaired proto.....if you use your boat a lot, then you may want to carry a spare (in the truck); that way you never loose a day for a bad prop.

It's usually pretty obvious as the vibration becomes very noticeable when your prop becomes damaged.

That's usually the reason, unless you're unhappy with the performance of the prop that you're running (it's not matched correctly to your powertrain vs. what your goals are or what kind of pull that you like).

"The effiiciency of the propeller remains contant from the day it is buttoned on to the end of the shaft until the last sad day when the ship is finally cast on the scrap heap."
