But Geno is the man. When he did the Stunt Junkies episode where he jumped over the boat while it was underway??

Damon did the same trick years ago & hit the boat. Destroyed the windshield & messed up his hip pretty good.

That is pretty cool, especially since the boat owner was participating and the foiler was the only one taking a bodily risk. We had something similar happen to us in the Delta a few years back and we were the boat being jumped over and we were not willing participants. We had a boat full of people, including little children. It still pisses me off just thinking about the incident. I'm sure the guy on the foil thought he was really cool, but I just thought, and still think, that he was a complete idiot. Man, I am still angry about that.

We were in one of the channels in the Delta and had someone out wakesurfing. She was done and so we were stopping when the boat pulling the foiler came up behind us. He cut out to put himself behind our boat and rider then did a flip over top of our rider and the back corner of our boat. Like I said, it still gets my blood boiling to think about the stupid risk he was taking with us.

$10 says that was Damon. Young, blonde guy. He lived in the area, rode the Delta a lot, and pulled those stunts all the time...... and thought he was really cool. I know at least one time he landed in the bow, smashing the windshield.

We do a lot of the "Around the boat" trick where the boat does a 180 degree turn & the skier rides around the bow end. Plus a few variations of it, double ATB, ATB & back, etc. Well Damon used to do "Around someone elses boat". He'd be going by another boat that was just sitting there, cut out, let go of the handle, ride all the way around thier boat, then regrab the handle & keep on riding. It was a riot. But if that other boat had a rope in the water..... or worse, a swimmer?? It could have gotten ugly fast.

A little off topic, but not too much....

A few years ago, I think it was Ronnie that posted links to videos of a step up competition that they held for foilers, I presume in TX. It might have even been long enough ago that it was on the old MBO that it was posted. I remember it being wicked cool in the same way, minus any danger to a boat since what they were doing was mimicking high jumping in the water over a similar type of bar. The wrecks were spectacular! Is anything like that still held? If so, is there any video footage around?

Oh & one thing about that video that I have a problem with. It is really cool looking, but for Malibu to post that in their blog is at best borderline irresponsible. It comes off as if they're promoting that type of behavior. It doesn't matter that it was staged & planned, it doesn't matter that they say in the blog that they don't recommend anyone try it. There are some idiots out there that will think that it's cool & that they should try something like that because they think that Malibu says it's okay. Bad idea by them to post that. JMO

They usually did this event at the Worlds, which were held in 1998, 1999, and 2003. I don't believe they did it at the Nationals at all.... which was last month & last year.
