Wet Walk through

So, just curious if anyone else has this issue occasionally. I have an '05 VLX with the front hard tank. Every so often we take water over the front...try to avoid it, but sometimes the "rogue" wave just nails you or the wind blows chop into the boat. I don't mind too much because I have a DeWalt wet-vac that I can suck up the water when I get back to the pier.

The issue I have is, for the next few days, water continues to soak the walkthrough carpet. I assume there is a drain somewhere in front under the ballast or on the sides of it that go to the bilge...am I wrong? If that's the case, why does it continue to leak down from there for days? I checked the ballast connections, pump and tank and all seem to be solid. I guess maybe the carpet underneath the tank is getting soaked and then just running downhill until it's dry? I know it's a boat, but I like my carpet dry...any advice?

Bow carpet and/or the seat cushions? Mine will hold some water after a bow dip so I usually set them up on edge to a) allow the area underneath to air out and B) dry the cusions. I don't have a VLX so not sure of your exact configuration but might be worth a try. Does your boat sit level or bow high? I like to get the water flowing towards the back & out when at rest. Did they really put carpet under a ballast tank?

Yep, I'm pretty sure there's carpet under there. The bow cushions are dry. It's the carpet in the walkthrough that keeps showing water. My boat sits a little bow high on the lift, so I'm sure it's retained water that's running down. I just thought that a drain would take most of that water down into the bilge and not let it run down the center of the carpeting.

I get that problem as well... I actually thought I had a leak for a while but I checked all of the pumps and the connections to the tank and couldn't find anything... I rarely dip the bow under but I get it after it rains or if it gets wet from people or dogs etc...
