Phase 5 or Inland Surfer?

Hey guys,

I'm about to pick up a new wakesurfer - I've currently got a Broadcast, and I'm very comfortable on it, but I want to try learning a few tricks with a skim board. I'm trying to decide between a Phase 5 Prop, Inland Surfer Black Pearl Yellow, and an IS Black Pearl. I weigh 190 - 200, and our wave is pretty nice behind an older VLX with 2000lbs. I'd like to hear any suggestions between these boards, or possibly other recommendations.

Thanks

i just bought the hyperlite swell 4 3', it is unreal. fast responsive, a bit skatey though. check out the wake outlaw review of the board. I still have a broadcast and i can say that the swell is much more advanced skim style but is well worth the money

I ride a Danielo pro i love it i have had way to many boards this one suits me. The mrs rides a inland 4'8 4skim she swears by it. Its a hard call on what to tell someone to buy. Everyone rides a different style a different speed etc. My best advise is to demo beg borrow or steal  lol. Before you buy. Otherwise you will be like us we have a dozen or more boards in our garage. One other thing to consider switching to skim style youll want a different wake that almost always requires more weight and a different speed than surf style. JMO

both are terrible in my opinion

This doesn't help me out much - why don't you like them? What board do you like? I don't have the opportunity to demo, so I'm looking for some advice here...

After reading a few other threads, I've narrowed it down to either the Prop or the IS Black Pearl. I still have a couple of questions though. How easily will the Prop fit into the standard Illusion X board racks, and just how easy is it to damage this board? I've read in a couple of threads that the Phase 5 boards are soft and may be damaged by the bungies or racks. Not putting the board in the racks is not an option for me. Also, just how big a guy can ride the Black Pearl? I'll have others on the boat in the 215 - 220 range.

Both boards will fit in the wakeboard rack fine, if you take care of it and not pull down when removiing the board it will not dent it. Yes big guys can ride both boards but niether of these is really the board for a big guy. I have riden both boards and like them both but they are to small for me to have any fun on. (230#) As far as what board i would choose between these, it would be the Inland Surfer, I like the look and the feel of the traction better.

You will get better feedback on these boards on www.WakeOutlaws.com, they sell both of these and have many riders of both of these on the site.

Chicken, for your size check out the Phase 5 Drew Danielo XL or the Inland Surfer Black Pearl Yellow. The Yellow with the extra fins is the easiest board to learn on for first timers, but with just the single fin it is such a fun board to progress on. It spins super fast and is really quick for its size. The Black Pearl yellow is the most versitle board IMO, you would never have to bring the broadcast on the boat again because you cover all your bases.

Thanks for the advice, but I ordered a Phase 5 Prop yesterday. I was really leaning toward the BP Yellow, but it was at least $100 more than the other boards. Hope I don't regret the decision. Man it's frustrating not having an opportunity to demo Mad.gif
