Tackled the impeller monster yesterday

Recommended Posts

I was dreading changing the impeller after reading all the horror stories on here. I even went out to change it when it was 102 degrees!

Well it was all for naught! It only took me 20 minutes to change it for the first time. Easy as heck and I'm sure I could do it in 10 minutes the next time.

I guess it's a bit easier on the 320 LCR.

Just thought I would share a victory story! Now on to changing the oil this week!

It's very easy on newer boat as they have great access. My older boats always had a belt to remove or somthing in the way. I could do it on the water in my current boat. Oil is just as easy except keeping the filter from making a mess. I drop the filter into a garbage bag but be carefull that it does not melt.

That's good to hear. I'm about to do a full tune up on my Bu and am looking at checking/replacing the impeller. Hopefully mine is as easy as yours. Clap.gif

I use a plastic milk jug, cut it about half way so you still have the handle to hold on too and it's easy to get out because of it's flexibility just make sure to have lots of towels on the floor and interior in case of a killer bee attack or something like that :)

That's the truth. No matter how cautious, at some point I spill oil.

When I change my filter I surround it with a gallon size zip lock baggie which catches all of the spilling oil as well as making it a dream to get it around the filter. i might try the milk jug concept but not sure if I could get it around the filter as easily as the baggie.
