Fuel Economy

I did a search but could not find what Im looking for.

I have an 07 23 LSV with the 383 HH and an Acme 1273 prop

I had some stalling and engine dieing and not restarting issues that I think Indmar has resolved. The last time they replaced the ECM and coil pack Alternator and I have not had a reoccurred stalling issue since with about 20 hours. What I have noticed is that my fuel use has gone through the roof. Before the new ECM and coil pack we could easly get 9 to 10 hours on a full tank now Im lucky to get 6.

Any thoughts? The engine runs strong with all of the power like before, we run the same weight and crew on the same lake. I love the fact that it has not left us stranded and I have checked for leaks and loose fittings but what has changed?

Fuel economy...What's that? 9 hours or 6 sounds good to me. Hope you figure out what the problem is mine drinks the gas.

What are you using to gauge your hours of run time? Your watch or the boat's hour meter? 5 or 6 gallans per hour at cruising speed sounds about right. 6 gallons times 6 hours = 36 gallons of gas which is not unreasonable. How big is your fuel tank? I figure I was quoted several years ago about the 350 (which is a smaller engine than yours) is that at wide open speed = ~12 gal/hour.

I have a 50 gallon tank and we surf most of the time so we hardly ever go over 3000 RPM in fact at 11.8 MPH we run 2800 RPM surfing. Which is what we did before the ECM change.

I am using the hour meter on the boat which is what I have always done. I am so accustom to going for a while I was shocked to look down a saw I had less than 1/4 tank today after filling up and topping it off to the top. The boat hour meter showed 4.7 hours I filled up at the same Costco and used 46.3 gallons @ 2.68 per gallon.
