This is like asking people if they like teak or fiberglass, fog through the plugs or throttle body, etc.. Run a search on sea foam and you can decide whether it's necessary.

I dump a bottle of 3M injector cleaner in the tank on the first outing off the year and run the 3-4 month old Winter layup Sta-bil'd gas out of my tank. Thats about it.

3M has a kit HERE I don't know about cleaning the actual cylinders though.

I use a product called Engine Scrub every spring. You can buy it here.

Wow, and look at those positive reviews.

I vote for Sea Foam. Anything that can make an engine run perfect after not running at all just from a week of sitting in a carb will always get my vote. That's exactly what it did in my friend's sea doo. It seems to do good things for the folks at thedieselstop.com and thedieselplace.com too!

I've read the recommendations for Sea Foam use. Here's my $.02. If I had a newer boat with low engine hours or a boat that has a good history of proper oil changes at proper intervals,.... I would skip the part about putting this stuff in the crankcase. If you want to use it in the tank and pour some down through the induction system while the engine is running that should be fine. Caution: pouring a liquid into the induction system while running can cause "hydro-lock". So go SLOWLY.

GM use to sell a substance called GM Top Engine Cleaner. They may still supply it but I'm not certain. It's pretty strong stuff. Poured into the induction,... it does a pretty good job at loosening up carbon on the pistons and valves. It's NOT to be used in the fuel tank though.

Another trick that many old timers used to use is good old water. A one liter size Coke bottle full of water pour through the induction system will clean out the carbon just about as well. Again,.... go SLOWLY!

I've heard drag racers will take an atomizing squirt bottle and clean out the intake and cylinders this way.
