Center Ballast Tank fills up on its own

Recommended Posts

Hello Crew,

I have an 04 VLX Wakesetter. The center ballast tank fills up on its own while on the water. If I don't remember to drain it, I'm pulling that extra weight home. Anyone have any ideas as to why this would be happening and what I should do to correct it?

Thanks.

EZ

Shut off the ball valve thats between the pump and the floor thru hull.

Turn it on when you want to fill ballast

Thanks, I did do that. Just wondering if there was a permanent fix so I don't forget to open the valve before pumping. I will try to replumb with a longer hose with a loop in it as suggested in nemire12's post.

A shutoff valve works for manual control, but if you want trully automatic, then you have to add an electronic valve like I did.

Check out my center tank pictures.

I used one of these Valves

Cool thanks for the info. How are you powering up the valve? Tie into the existing pump power lead?

Oops, posted this in the "Bad Day" thread...meant it for here-

I have a problem with my '05 Wakesetter wanting to fill the rear starboard tank when I'm above ~10knots. I was told that from '06 and up the factory made use of an anti-siphon valve. I will probably end up installing a couple to see if it works. Here they are-

Yup. Exactly. It's only another amp or so and the dash switch can take that no sweat.

Did this work? I'd like to try this first ... seems easier than going the route with the solenoid valve (but willing to try that too if the loop doesn't work).

thanks,

My bu just started auto-filling on the middle tank also. It has the big loop in the observer compartment and has never done it before, so I'd like to know what has changes to cause the issue??? In the off season, I'm going to check the fill pump for any debris or problems, as it's got to be the most likely culprit unless you all can come up with something different...

I would also like to know how one day it can be fine and then mysteriously it goes into ghost mode and now ghost fills :(

I am going to try and lift the tubing higher as the solenoid looks a bit intense for my liking.
