Boat names

I've never named any of my boats, but I kindof want to name this one her current name is "Organ Donor". Her first owner had some issues managing all the power of the 454 and sent a few friends to the ER before the end of his first month owning her. I'm not super fond of this name but I don't want to change it if it's bad luck or anything and if I do change it I want it to reflect her girly appearance, she's pink and teal but lend curiousity to what's under her shirt, that being the 454. Any ideas?

There is lore that says it's unlucky to rename a ship without a process to appease the gods of the sea.

They're pretty old legends for sure.

And for ships that sale the open ocean - there's a lot more that can go wrong if they DO piss off a God or two - and of course there's often death involved...

For a Malibu with big ones under her shirt, running the local rivers, I don't think you have too much to worry about renaming your vessel. :-)

Pick something that matters to you if you are going to rename imho.

Nauti Girl

It's Five O'Clock Somewhere

Rum and Coke

Family Time

Happy Ours

Aquaholic

The Office

All of these have been overdone to a remarkable level if you ask me.

On big boats, the name and hailing port is a requirement of US Coast Guard vessel registry. On little boats, lots of people do and lots don't. Let us know what you come up with! Doing the naming thing is fun if you ask me.

My last boat was Mistress. I really like that name. When I rehabbed the exterior of the Echelon I took the transom decals off, and am looking for a fitting name too. We live on Shafer Lake, so I'm pretty sure I'm naming this one Shafer Wake (since we mostly wakeboard).

On your riders, you could name it Lucky Seven. Then you can just point to the transom when those boys are causing you problems with the guests (Sorry kid, today's not your lucky day).

Ha ha ha those are good ones, Lucky Seven is a good one, I also like Nauti Girl. We are going to rehab her exterior too so "Organ Donor" will have to either be redone or renamed. I am going to check out that website yachtsee I'll definetly keep you posted I'll probably have to have a vote of some kind.

I have not named mine because it's a trailer boat. However I do appreciate names that are humorous. Walter Cronkite was a long time ocean going sailor. His boat was "Assignment". If he was playing hooky his assistant of course would reply that he was on "Assignment".

I do vanity plates. DONT W8 on my Porsche, LOW SUV on the missus 4Matic Mercedes sedan, 6 SQRLS (six squirrels, get it) on my previous 99 Porsche, EAT BMW on my previous 95 Porsche, 26MILE on the missus previous Avalon when she did the Portland Marathon (also 26 miles across the sea, get it) , and so forth.

If it was mine I'd install my own catchy name to replace "Organ Donor" just to get rid of the jinx.

HydroTherapy ? JustChillin ? BigBlocksRock ? NotSlow ? WetDreamer ?

I'm sure you have better ideas.

"TayBu"... We have never named our boats in the pasy but a friend of my has a company that makes logoware.. they come up with the name and some cool graphics and made us a bunch of shirts and sweatshirts for the boat.. the family loved them. Very very cheesy... but you have to have fun in life. Last name "Taylor".. so that's where "TayBu" comes from. My friend has a Mobius... they named the boat "Mobius d***" (Moby d***)... his wife didn't wnat that on t-shirts so they went with "Mobius Richard"... or just "Richard" for short. :). No lettering on the boat.. just something the guys use to referance my boat vs. theirs, etc.

That's a good line of thought. Keep it something original that you would likely never see anywhere else. It takes some creativity, but the more you use it something will pop in your head as a perfect name.

I definetly want it to be original, I've came up with a few but nothing I want to have opinions on yet.

Isn't your boat a Presidential Edition?

Nope she was just ordered with the 454 EFI, she is an LX openbow.

I've seen a boat on the Sacramento River named "Cirrhosis of the River". Another was a Sky Supreme painted bright yellow metal flake called "Wake Up".

My trailer licence plate for the 'Bu is GR8D8B8 (hey, we all know it's true). It took my girlfriend a while before she realized it; now...she no likie No.gif

With a 454...I'd name it "Wave G'Bye"

My Dad was general counsel for Sears Roebuck while I was growing up. His boat was named "Satisfaction Guaranteed".
