2000 sportster leaking transmission fluid

Recommended Posts

Last weekend i was idling out my cove and I heard a kind of whinning from the rear and I circled back to my lift where I found the tranmission fluid was not registering on the stick. Of course I went and bought some additional fluid and it took 1/2 a quart to top off. I finished off the day with no noise and the fluid stayed at the correct level. It sat for three days and last night I went out in the rain, under the cover and it had a pretty good amount of transmission fluid in the bilge area. It was really raining so a complete check out could not happen. Has anyone had this happen before and what is the best guess on fixing? As everyone I hate to trailer to my local shop for something that might/could be simple to fix. Any suggestions would be helpful.

On my Monsoon 320 I had a leak on the bottom of the trans drain. On mine its just a flat piece of metal with 2 bolts. There was a screen in there I cleaned as well. I put gasket sealer on it when I replaced it. I also had a slow leak on the trans cooler lines. I took the lines off and blew compressed air through them and I found the leak under the swivel. I replaced both lines for $40 buck from local hose store.
