Swim step

Recommended Posts

The swim step is turning feet black. I've scrubbed it, rubbed it, and washed it???? No bueno. Anyone have this problem? If so, how do you stop it?

we have that issue at the first of the year, just use some soap and water with a scrub brush and scrub that thing like crazy. After a few uses at the lake it stops for us.

we will be doing the replacement this year, but not because of this issue, we just like the way the new ones feel on your feet.

Scrub it down with hot soapy water, rinse and let it completely dry.

Then give it a good coat of 303 protectant, and work it into the grooves.

Let it set, then buff off any excess. ~1hr?

I was having a problem with the black tracking all over the place, but it has not resurfaced in the 2 years since I did this. I may recoat it this fall.

It was a little slick at first but that didn't last long, you can buff most of it off with a dry towel after it sets in for a while.

I heard this from someone else on this board, it really worked and was a heck of a lot easier than replacing anything.

Wish I would have know this sooner??? I just ordered a new Grey Swim Platform mat with the wedge door on Tuesday.. I don't know the price yet but I am sure It is going to be a pricey piece of foam... And I get to try and clean up the black crap all over the boat...

You posted your question on the 22nd but purchased the grey foam the day before? HMMM...not a good use of the website. Patience...the answers always come.

Ooops. Sorry, I get so confused by all the quotation marks. Let me know how the Grey Foam feels. I a may be doing the same thing just because my rubber is also cracked from the Lake Powell heat and gives me the lovely black pearl smudges occasionally.

I also had similer problem and it also bubbled, they replaced the whole top of the platform with new rubber. I cleaned and 303 it and have had no problems since. I never scrubbed mine, just clean with soap and water and they sprayed the 303 and wiped off excess and let it dry. In storage I cover platform with a beach towel to keep the elements off it.
